M. Evelyn Miller
M. Evelyn Miller, 94, of Muncy, formerly of Johnstown, passed away May 9, 2013, at Muncy Valley Skilled Nursing Unit. She was born July 14, 1918, in Summerhill, daughter of Eugene C. and Hazel V. (Mervine) Boland.
She is preceded in death by parents; first husband, Frederick T. Gilmour Jr.; second husband, Anthony W. Miller; sister, Linda J. (Boland) Roberts Sivatko; and nephews, Kevin and Kim Bissonette.
She is survived by sons, Frederick T. Gilmour III, married to Dr. Davie J. (Saxton) Gilmour, of Montoursville, and Scott C. Gilmour, married to Aurora (Murillo) Gilmour, of Johnstown; sister, Shirli (Boland) Bissonette, of Johnstown; grandchildren, C. Shaun Gilmour, of Los Angeles, Calif., Ryan Gilmour, of Blackhawk, Colo.; step children, James E. Miller, of N.J., Suzanne Miller, of Greensburg; step-grandchildren, Stacey Zometsky, of Johnstown, Kelly Alexander, of Md., Erin Pierce, of Md., Melissa Kiger, of Del., Anthony Miller, of N.J.; nieces, Leslie Downerd, of Ohio, Vicki Baurys, of Aristas; and numerous grandnieces and nephews and great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was a long-time former employee of Glosser Brothers, where she served as a sales clerk, bookkeeper and personal shopper. She was the first local female agent for Prudential Insurance Co. during War War II, having received ration stamps for shoes because she walked her debit. She was last employed as the Financial Secretary of Westmont Presbyterian Church.
She graduated from Johnstown High School in 1936. She was a long-time member of Westmont Presbyterian Church and a former Deacon.
Friends were received 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and Monday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service, at 10 a.m., at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., Johnstown, with Rev. Dr. William N. Jackson, officiating. Interment was at Grandview Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Memorial Fund of Westmont Presbyterian Church, Johnstown, or to the Scholarship Fund at Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation, Williamsport.
