Alberta E. Walton

Alberta E. Walton, 93, of 3750 Rt. 220 Highway, Hughesville, and formerly of Mechanic St., Muncy, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at the Susquehanna Health Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at the Muncy Valley Hospital.

Born April 5, 1920, in Clarkstown, she was a daughter of the late Wilbert and Florence (Shook) Houseknecht. On May 3, 1941, she married David L. Walton, who survives. Together they have shared 72 years of marriage.

Alberta was a 1938 graduate of Muncy High School and a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Clarkstown. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she loved sharing time with her family. She also enjoyed playing bingo in her spare time.

Surviving in addition to her husband, are three sons, Donald L. Walton and George C. (June) Walton, all of Muncy, and James B. (Sandy) Walton of Las Vegas, Nev.; her twin brother, Albert (Florence) Houseknecht of Hughesville; one sister, Ada Bower of Harrisburg; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by two daughters, Patricia A. Walton who died in 1999 and Sandra L. Bair who died in 1972 and one daughter-in-law, Linda Walton.

Friends were received from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, July 8, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral was held at 11 a.m. Burial followed in Muncy Cemetery.
