Richard B. “Dick” Strausser
Richard B. “Dick” Strausser, 79, of Hughesville, died Friday, June 28, 2013, at Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 20, 1934, in Bloomsburg, he was a son of the late William P. and Dorothy M. Johnson Strausser. He and his wife, the former Arlene Bulla, would have celebrated 58 years of marriage on Nov. 26, 2013.
Dick served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Picture Rocks Lions Club and the Hughesville Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. Dick also enjoyed woodworking, gardening and baking.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Lola C. (Dan Strenkoski) Williams of Coal Township; a son, Gary R. (Tricia) Strausser of Nescopeck; two sisters, Sandy Ikler of Danville and Janice Shepperson of Riverside; four brothers, James R. Strausser of Danville, Donald Strausser of Bloomsburg, Rodney (Jeanne) Strausser of Herndon and Jack (Alice) Strausser of Danville; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by a son, Richard D. Strausser; two sisters, Shirley Jordan and Donna Diehl; and three brothers, Bill, Wayne and Dale Strausser.
A memorial service was held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Hughesville Baptist Church, 37 N. Third St., Hughesville, with Rev. Thomas M. Brokaw officiating. A private burial was held in Creveling Cemetery, Bloomsburg.
