Patricia L. “Patti” Hakes
Patricia L. “Patti” Hakes, 50, of Montgomery, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at her home.
Born July 14, 1963, in Upper Darby, she was a daughter of Gary O. Alexander and Ella Marie Jones Freas. She and her husband, Andy L. Hakes, celebrated 31 years of marriage on May 29, 2013.
Over the course of her eight year battle with cancer, Patti brought much comfort and encouragement to others faced with similar struggles. She attended Faith United Methodist Church, Montoursville, and was a member of the Muncy Valley Moose. Patti was an avid Penn State and Eagles football fan that enjoyed camping, bear hunting, coloring and spending time with her granddaughter. She also loved Carrie Underwood and her dog, Finn.
Surviving, in addition to her parents and husband, are two sons, Nathan L. (Angela) Hakes of Montoursville and Justin D. (Cailyn Knouse) Hakes of Montgomery; a granddaughter, McKenna L. Hakes of Montoursville; a step-sister, Sheryl A. Freas of Philadelphia; a step-brother, John A. Freas of Eyersgrove; and a father-in-law, Harry W. Hakes of Montgomery.
Patti was preceded in death by a brother, William Derrick Alexander and a mother-in-law, Helen Hakes.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 25, at Faith United Methodist Church, 700 Fairview Drive, Montoursville, with Rev. Larry Leland officiating. Burial followed in Elimsport Cemetery. Friends called from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
