Carol Ann Metzler

Carol Ann Metzler, 62, of Allenwood, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, in Virginia.

Born Dec. 13, 1950, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of Leon and Martha (Young) Ulmer. She married Donald E. Metzler and would have celebrated 42 years together in December.

Carol worked at the Grit newspaper, assisted her husband with his business, and as a homemaker. She attended Bethel Baptist Church and was a member of the McEwensville Gardening Club. She was an avid gardener and landscaper, and loved baking and cooking.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons, Nevin (Renee) Metzler, formerly of Turbotville, and Nathan (Shannon) Metzler of Cincinnatus, N.Y.; a daughter, Naomi (Louis) Palazzo of Hughesville; four grandchildren, Hunter, Ariahna, Daphne and Chloe Metzler; two brothers, Philip (Lois) Ulmer and Seth (Arlene) Ulmer, both of Linden; and a sister, Debra (Rev. David) Bixler of Loyalsock.

A funeral service was held 10 a.m. Friday, August 9 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1730 Four Mile Drive, Williamsport. Burial was at Elimsport Cemetery. A viewing was held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9:30 a.m. until time of service Friday at church.
