Eleanor Ann Barto

Eleanor Ann Barto, 97, formerly of Hughesville, died Thursday Aug. 8, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center. She was born Oct. 10, 1915, in McEwensville, daughter of the late Leonald W. and Sara E. (Crawford) Rothermel. December 21, 1935, she married Charles A. Barto Sr., who died April 10, 1953.

She was a former member and organist of the Lutheran Brick Church and then a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Hughesville. She graduated from Muncy High School, class of 1934. She had worked at Montgomery Mills for 22 years and retired from GTE Sylvania, Montoursville, in 1984, after seven years of service.

She is survived by two sons, Charles A. Barto, Northumberland, Gerald E. Barto, Virginia; and a daughter, Carol A. Barto, Texas; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband of 18 years, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James G. and John H. Rothermel; and a sister, Sara Marian Holt.
