June L. Michael

June L. Michael, 83, of 739 Susquehanna Trail Rd., Muncy, passed away Friday, September 20, 2013 at the Gatehouse Hospice Center, Williamsport.

Born August 24, 1930 in Monroe, Louisiana, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Louise (Walters) Lambert. On May 6, 1952, she married Kay D. Michael and together celebrated 61 years of marriage.

A graduate of Byrd High School, Shreveport, LA, she continued her education at Louisiana Baptist College and earned her Master’s degree from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA.

June retired after 35 years of teaching music and as the district librarian for the Montgomery Area School District. She was also employed with the family business, Michael TV and Appliance in Muncy.

June was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, where she served as the choir director for many years. June had a great love of music and taught piano lessons at her home in Muncy.

In addition to music, June enjoyed reading, playing cards, hosting parties for family and friends, and traveling, especially to the family cottage in Canada.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons and one daughter-in-law, James R. and Cathy J. Michael and Lloyd K. Michael, all of Muncy; one half brother, John Lambert of New York; one brother-in-law, Keith Michael and wife, Marion; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2013 at the funeral home with Joani Yagel, officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
