Margaret E. Miller

Margaret E. Miller, 81, of Picture Rocks, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

Born June 30, 1932, in Shrewsbury Township, Sullivan County, she was a daughter of the late Elmer G. and Eva M. Smith Laurenson. She and her husband, Carl W. Miller, celebrated 60 years of marriage on Sept. 27, 2013.

Margaret was a dedicated homemaker who loved spending time with her family. She was a lifelong member of the Picture Rocks United Methodist Church and actively participated in various civic organizations. Margaret also enjoyed reading, sewing and baking.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are four sons, Jeffrey C. (Carol) Miller of Muncy, Michael D. Miller of Frederick, Md., Daniel W. (Debra) Miller of Hughesville and Terry L. (Maria “Jo”) Miller of Picture Rocks; a daughter, Lucinda “Cindy” Lohmann of Sweet Valley; a brother, George E. (Eloise “Chip”) Laurenson of Buckhorn; a sister, Clara M. Smith of Bloomsburg; a sister-in-law, June Laurenson; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by a sister, Enza Laurenson; a brother, Raymond Laurenson; a brother-in-law, Leonard Smith; and a nephew, Gary Smith; and a son-in-law,John Lohmann.

A memorial service was held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at the Picture Rocks United Methodist Church, 48 Laurel Run Rd., Picture Rocks, with Pastor Richard L. DeMarte and Joani Yagel co-officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. Friends called from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.
