Eldon M. “Skip” Hilner
Eldon M. (Skip) Hilner, 78, a resident of Hughesville, PA, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2013 in the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit. Born in Elysburg, Northumberland County, PA, on Sunday, April 21, 1935, he was the son of the late Joseph W. and Frieda (Michael) Hilner.?He was the husband of Shirley M. (Metzger) Hilner with whom he celebrated a 60th wedding anniversary on May 25, 2013.?Skip was a 1953 graduate of Muncy High School. He was a lifelong truck driver and mechanic and was employed by Lucas Trucking at Jersey Shore, PA retiring in 1997. He had also been employed by the former Smith Truck Lines and Bulkmatic.
He was a member of the Teamsters local at Milton. Eldon enjoyed hunting. He and his wife spent six months of the year at their residence in Bushnell, FL.?In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David Hilner, Montoursville, PA; Joseph M. Hilner, Hughesville, PA; one estranged daughter, Stacy Gehr, Montoursville, PA; one brother, Ivan Hilner, Williamsport, PA; one sister, Cheryl LeClaire, Virginia; five grandchildren, Jennifer Neidig; Michael Hilner; Lynn Gehr; Tyler Gehr; Hayden Gehr and three great-grandchildren, Tea; Chaz and Jackson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jennifer Marie Hilner. ?Graveside funeral services were conducted in the Twin Hills Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
