Merla Elaine Oden

Merla Elaine Oden, 82, of Warrensville Road, Montoursville, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at the Gatehouse, Williamsport.

Born May 3, 1931, in Muncy Valley, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Ruth (Remaley) Hacker. She married Clifford Leroy Oden who preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1983. Together they celebrated 33 years of marriage.

Merla was a 1949 graduate of Muncy High School. She was employed at Montgomery Mills and Millville Nursing Home before retiring from Boone’s Nursing Home in Eyers Grove.

She was a member of Mountain View Fellowship, Trout Run.

In her younger years Merla helped at Eagle Grange No. 1 in Montgomery.

Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Clifford L. Jr. and Rebecca Oden and Alan L. and Linda Oden, all of Muncy, and Earl T. Oden, of Trout Run; three daughters and one son-in-law, Ruby Rivera and Susan Lehew both of Texas, and Patricia and Robert Vanwhy, of Montgomery; one sister, Ila Force, of Harrisburg; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Charles.

Friends were received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Monday in Muncy Cemetery.
