Lulu G. Blessing
Lulu G. Blessing, 84, of 415 Sterling Dr., Muncy, died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Rose View Center, Williamsport.
Born September 15, 1929 in Montgomery, she was a daughter of Herman and Madeline (Reeser) Huff. On November 4, 1950, she married Kenneth W. Blessing, Sr. “Kenny”, who preceded her in death October 24, 2004. Together they celebrated 53 years of marriage.
Lulu was a 1947 graduate of Montgomery High School.
She and her late husband Kenny owned and operated Blessing Farms, where she was an active participant in all chores and duties related to its operation. She spent many night monitoring low temperatures in order to protect their strawberry crop.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, Montgomery.
Lulu loved wintering at her home in Arizona and enjoyed the many friendships that she and Kenny made there. She was an avid Penn State football fan.
She enjoyed playing cards and could be found at many Wednesday card games with friends.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth W. Jr. and Kitty Blessing; one daughter, Tammy Blessing; one sister-in-law, Leitha Huff, all of Muncy; three grandchildren, Brian, Nicole and Wm. Colton Blessing; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by one brother, Robert Huff and one sister Betty Jane Longland.
Friends were received from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, 196 Brick Church Rd., Montgomery, where the funeral was held at 11:00 a.m. with her pastor, Rev. Viking Dietrich, officiating.
Burial followed in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery.
