Blanche E. Peltonen

Blanche E. Peltonen, 91, formerly of Unityville, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, in Indianapolis, Ind.

Born Jan. 26, 1922, in Unityville, she was a daughter of the Late Edward J. and Myrtle Swisher.

Blanche moved to Detroit, Mich., in 1942, two years after graduating from Millville High School. She retired in 1982 from Fisher Body, a division of General Motors Corp., after 20 years of service. She returned home to Unityville after retirement and loved sewing and gardening.

Surviving is her son, Michael L. (Anne E.) Peltonen, of Indianapolis, Ind.; two grandchildren, Michael L. Peltonen II, of Memphis, Tenn., and Christine M. Peltonen, of Westfield, Ind.; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Harold L. and Cloyd G. Swisher, both of Unityville.

In addition to her parents, Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Pittman of McClure, Ohio, and a brother, Charles Swisher of Rohrsburg.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Ronald G. Montgomery officiating. Burial will be held privately in Salem Cemetery. Friends called from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
