James A. Bower

James A. Bower, 84, formerly of Muncy, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at the Williamsport Home.

Born on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 1929, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Katie A. (Steppe) Bower.

He honorably served during the Korean Conflict with the Navy.

James was employed as a proprietor in the restaurant business and was last employed by Nevill’s Flowers, Montoursville.

James is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. and Andrea Bower, of Williamsport; one grandson, Issac Bower; and one sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Carl Moore, of South Williamsport. James is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Bower and Alfred Bower, and by two sisters, Margaret Ardry and Mary Fila.

A prayer service was conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy, with Reverend Glenn McCreary, of the Church of the Resurrection at Muncy, officiating. Interment was in the Muncy Cemetery.
