Renee N. Folk
Renee N. (Miss Aya Mass Acre) Folk, 35, of Hughesville, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by her loving family.
Born July 25, 1978, in Muncy, she was a daughter of late Virginia (Clayton) and Jeffrey Funston. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Renee was a spokesperson for the American Cancer Society and an activist for the proposed House Bill 369, which would make it illegal for salons to allow minors to use tanning beds. She enjoyed the outdoors, hiking and beaches. She was very active in roller derby and coached new skaters for the Susquehanna Valley Derby Vixens. Renee was best remembered for saying, “Get Lower!”
Renee is survived by her step-father, Jeffrey Funston, of Muncy; three sisters, Shelly Hill, of Hughesville, Kelly Dean, of Hughesville and Rochelle Evens, of Shamokin; maternal grandparents, Dale and Patty Clayton, of Hughesville; two nieces; and three nephews. She was greatly loved and will be terribly missed.
Renee was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Clayton Funston.
A memorial service was held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4 at Grace Baptist Church of Muncy, 5471 Clarkstown Road, Muncy, with Rev. Charles Teffeteller officiating. The family received friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
The family provided the flowers and suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society at or the Susquehanna Valley Derby Vixens, P.O. Box 2409, Williamsport, PA 17701.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville.
