Charles W. Rager, Jr.
Charles W. Rager, Jr., 71, of 303 S. Market St., Muncy, died unexpectedly Friday, January 24, 2014 at his home.
Born October 1, 1942 in Washington D. C., he was a son of the late Charles W. Sr. and Charlotte C. (Notestine) Rager. On November 28, 1983 he married the former Janice K. Bernier, who preceded him in death in 2011.
Charles was a 1961 graduate of Balboa High School, Canal Zone, Panama. He served honorably as a submariner with the Navy aboard the USS Sea Poacher. Charles was a jack of all trades, but worked most of his life and retired from the former Sprout-Waldron, now Andritz, as a millwright and welder.
He was a member and past commander of the Roland Ritter American Legion Post 268, he was also a member of the Edward J. Smith Post 3428 VFW and the 40/8 S. O. L. Club/ Highland Lake.
Charles enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood working and refurbishing antiques. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Charles W. Rager III and his fiance Renee Smith, of Muncy and Kristopher M. and Jacqueline Adams, of Venice, FL; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Corliss K. A. and Ray E. Carr, of Gothensburg, Neb., Marlae M. Adams and her companion, Kellie Frome, of Montoursville and Kellene and Dan Skrypek, of Minnesota; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Loa and Allen Swainston, of New Kingston, Linda and Henry Bean, of Atlanta and Leesa and Emerson Lyons, of Swanzey, NH; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
