Helen M. Ryan
Helen M. Ryan, 88, a resident of Muncy, formerly of Montgomery, went home to be with her family in Heaven on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, in the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit.
Born in Muncy Creek Township, Lycoming County, on Wednesday, May 13, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Olive (Crawford) Newhard.
Helen was the widow of Neal H. Ryan, who preceded her in death in April 1982.
She was a 1944 graduate of Montgomery-Clinton High School. Helen was formerly employed by the former H.D. Bobb Shirt Factory at Montgomery.
She was a 72-year member of the Grace Presbyterian Church at Montgomery. Helen enjoyed crocheting, reading and playing cards.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Kelsey (Eric) Jakubauskas, Texas, Ryan Baker, New York, J. Neal (Janice) Baker, New York; seven great-grandchildren, Christian Jakubauskas, Ana Marie Jakubauskas, Eve Jakubauskas, Zachary Jakubauskas, Asen Jakubauskas, Hanna Baker, and Charlotte Baker; her son-in-law, Dan Baker, Rochester, N.Y.; and several nieces and one nephew.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Colleen R. Baker; one brother, Charles “Bud” Newhard; three sisters, Inez Newhard, Mabel Hughes, and Catherine McCormick; and one sister-in-law, Iona Newhard.
Funeral services were conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 North Main St., Muncy, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014. Interment was in the Muncy Cemetery. Friends called on Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
