Walter R. Entz

Walter R. Entz, 78, a resident of Muncy, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at his residence. Born in Williamsport, Lycoming County, on Sunday, Dec. 1, 1935, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Sarah (Slagenweit) Entz.

He was the widower of Phyllis A. (Yonkin) Entz, who preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 2000.

Walt was employed as a delivery man by Valley Farms at Williamsport for 32 years, retiring in 1998.

He was a member of the Heilman United Methodist Church. Walt was an active member of Brady Lodge 116, Independent Order of Odd Fellows at Muncy, where he had previously served Past Grand and currently served as treasurer. He was an avid supporter of his grandchildren’s sports endeavors, enjoyed putting puzzles together and contributed many hours volunteering at the Lime Bluff Recreation Area.

He is survived by one son, Larry W. Entz, of Muncy; five grandchildren, Stephanie King, Kellie Scampone, Rebecca Bomboy, Joshua King, Lacy Wilson; seven great-grandchildren, Breanne, Anthony, Allyson, Jordan, Levi, Will, Jarred; one son-in-law, Gene Phillips; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Lou Moyer, Joyce Waltz. Walt is also survived by two great-great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Walter was preceded in death by his daughter, Virginia L. Phillips.

Funeral services were conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy, at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan, 29, 2014, with Connie Waugh, his pastor, officiating. Friends called on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Brady Lodge 116, conducted a memorial service at 8 p.m. immediately following the visitation.
