Dixie A. Schrader

Dixie A. Schrader, 78, Texas, formerly of Muncy, passed away peacefully at her home on Jan. 26, 2014.

Dixie was born on Jan. 31, 1935, in Eagles Mere, the daughter of the late George and Harriet Smith.

Dixie was a 1951 graduate of the Sonestown High School. She was employed by Carey McFalls, Rynvelds, and later worked at Sycamore Manor while earning her nursing degree at Penn College. Following her move to Texas, she worked at Bastrop Nursing Home and continued working through her battle with cancer and until her passing.

Surviving are three daughters: Cynthia Farrell (James Smith), Kimberly (Landy) Smith, both of Texas, Leslie (Brian) Koch, of Muncy; one son, Jeff Schrader, of Eagles Mere; three sisters, Carol (Sonny) Bigger, Elaine Mudrick, Rhoda (Dan) Johnson; and one brother, George (Florence) Smith. Dixie leaves six grandchildren, Marsha Farrell, Keith Farrell, Chris Koch, Ryan Koch, Stacie Manning and Susan Canning and six great-grandchildren, Ashley Farrell, Jesse Feemster, Aiden Manning, Rylan Koch, Abigail Koch and Andrew Osborne as well as several nieces and nephews. Dixie was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Paul Mudrick.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate her life this summer in Pennsylvania at the convenience of the family.
