Eleanor M. Eck

Eleanor M. Eck, 91, of Hughesville, formerly of Nippenose Valley, died on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Muncy Skilled Nursing. Her husband, Clarence Eck, passed away in 2008.

She was born on Aug. 10, 1922, in Elimsport and was the daughter of Ray M. and Alice M. Derr Persun.

Eleanor worked at several places before retirement including Ray-O-Vac, Town and Country, Hon Furniture and Wire Rope. She enjoyed volunteering at the Lycoming County Fair at the wild animal display. She also loved going yard saleing.

She is survived by two sons, John (Judy) Eck, of Montoursville and Ray (Karen) Eck, of Allenwood; two daughters, Rose Newcomer, of Hughesville and Sharon (Denny) Good, of St. George, Utah; one brother, Edgar Persun, of Rauchtown; one sister, June Costill, of Allenwood; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family will provide flowers. The family suggests memorial contributions in Eleanor’s name be made to Lycoming County SPCA, 2801 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.
