Margaret A. Rooker

Margaret A. Rooker, 74, of Hughesville, died Thursday, Feb.27, 2014, at the Muncy Valley hospital Skilled Nursing Unit.

She was born Sept. 24, 1939, in Lopez, a daughter of the late Willard and Pearl (Werkeiser) Stout. She was married to the late Willard B. Rooker, who died March 19, 1985.

Earlier in life she was a member of Rock Run United Methodist Church and had worked for the former Atwood Looms and Mota Faucets. Margaret enjoyed playing cards, listening to country music, doing word puzzles and spending time with her family.

She is survived by the following children: Donald E. (Kelly) Rooker, Benton, Brenda L. Phillips (Bill Zimmerman), Hughesville, Willard Rooker Jr., Texas, Larry Rooker, Linden, Mark (Gwen) Rooker, Muncy, Grant (Jane) Rooker, Hughesville; several grandchildren, including Skyler Rooker, Stevie Merrifield, Kyle Babb, Tylor Babb and Dale Phillips; many great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Nancy Rooker, Texas, and Mary Rooker, Muncy; and a brother, Kenneth (Pam) Stout, Florida.

In addition to her husband and parents, Margaret was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Swisher, two sons, Gary Rooker and Eugene Rooker, four sisters and three brothers.

A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, in the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, by Rev. Max Walters Jr. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Thursday from 6:30 p.m. until the time of service.
