Annabel Farley Young
Annabel Farley Young, 97, long time resident of Montgomery, passed away peacefully at 8:55 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Northpoint Healthcare in Lexington, Ky. Born in Montgomery, Lycoming County, on Thursday, June 29, 1916, Annabel was the daughter of the late Lehman G. and Maude L. (Fritz) Farley.
Annabel was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William C. Young and son, William F. Young. Together with her husband, they founded and operated W.C. Young Hardware for 47 years in Montgomery. Annabel was an active and lifelong member of the former Christ Lutheran Church in Montgomery, and attended Good Shepherd Episcopal Church while in Lexington, Ky.
Annabel is survived by three grandchildren, Amy L. and husband Ben Abner, of Woodstock, Ga., David T. and wife, Erin Young, of Lexington, Ky. and Elizabeth A. Young and husband, Joseph Fleming, Marietta, Ga.; and five great-grandchildren, Emma Abner, Charlotte Annabel Young, Jackson Young, Margaret Katherine Fleming, William Farley Fleming.
The family is grateful to the staff on the Amelia ward at Northpoint Healthcare for their kind and loving care of Annabel.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014, from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy, with the Rev. Viking Dietrich, pastor of the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, officiating. Friends called on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment followed in the Green Lawn Memorial Park Montgomery.
