Emily R. Hopfer
Emily R. Hopfer, 81, of Selinsgrove, formerly of the Hughesville area, died March 7, 2014, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.
She was born Sept. 3, 1932, in Muncy, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Charlotte (Geiger) Buck. On July 7, 1955, she married James Bert Hopfer, who died June 18, 1973.
She was a member of the former Mapleton United Methodist Church. She had worked many years at the former Lysock View Nursing Home as an aide. Earlier in life, she had also worked at the former Weldon’s and Sylvania. Emily enjoyed baking, reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Emily is survived by a son, Charles W. “Charlie” (Mary) Hopfer, Watsontown; three grandchildren, James Hopfer, Hughesville, Amanda Kramer, Muncy, and Jessie Hopfer, Watsontown; and a sister, Kathryn Ann (Larry) Lawton, Berwick.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Hopfer; two sons, James and Timothy Hopfer; and a brother, Jay Buck.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, in the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, by Pastor Linda K. Sullivan. The interment was in the Webster Cemetery, Huntersville.
The family received friends Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
