Robert B. Fillman, Jr.
Robert B. Fillman, Jr., 80, of 16186 S. Rt. 44, Allenwood, died on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the home of his daughter in Montgomery.
Born May 15, 1933 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Robert B. and Helen (Grimes) Fillman. On May 7, 1956 he married the former Betty Jane Lowe, who preceded him in death on June 11, 2006. Together they celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Robert was a graduate of the former Williamsport Technical Institute. He served honorably with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Rodman during the Korean War.
Robert worked as a service technician for Phillips Supply House, Williamsport, retiring in 1996. After his retirement, he worked as a security officer for Leer, Milton, for 10 years.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Muncy and the Clyde F. Mowrer American Legion, Post #323, Watsontown and an officer and life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Robert enjoyed woodworking, swimming and fishing, but most of all, he loved spending time with and helping raise his grandchildren.
Surviving are three daughters, JoAimee Gallo, of Hershey, Melanie Carney, of Quincy, MA and Ann Bieber, of Montgomery; one step son, Pastor Lonny DeWalt, of Corning, NY; ten grandchildren, Randy Miller, of Elimsport, Brandon Miller, of Montgomery, Aaron, David, Karis and Elizabeth DeWalt, all of Corning, NY, Kristin Gavin, of Hershey, Patrick Gallo, of Millville, Andrew Garrett, of Hershey and Robbie Carney, of Quincy, MA; and three great-grandchildren, Aiden Gallo, Blake Miller, Jacob Gavin.
The family planned a celebration of his life at 10 a.m. Saturday at Grace Baptist Church, 5471 Clarkstown Rd., Muncy, with military honors following the service.
Burial was held at the convenience of the family in Elimsport Cemetery.
The family was assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
