Faith Newbury Ranck
Faith Newbury Ranck, of 718 Bob Drick Road, Allenwood, died Thursday, March 20, at SHS Muncy Skilled Nursing Unit where she had been loved and cared for by the wonderful SNU staff for several years. She was 87 years old.
Born in Northumberland on June 24, 1926, Faith was the eldest daughter of the 10 children of Charles E. and Priscilla Allen Newbury. Faith was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Arthur H. Ranck.
The former Faith O. Newbury attended Sunbury High School until 1942, when her family moved to Watsontown. She graduated from Watsontown High School in 1944, and worked at Philco-Ford for over 20 years. Faith was a member of the Christian Crusaders Class of the Elimsport Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member and past-matron of the Watsontown Chapter of the Eastern Star and a Friend of the James V. Brown Library in Williamsport. Faith was also a member and past-president of the Elimsport Helpful Homemakers.
Faith enjoyed music, movies, and reading, the love of which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She was an amateur artist, a seamstress and crafter, and had a large doll collection. She also taught countless people how to wallpaper. Faith was a fantastic cook, and made what many believed was the best iced tea in the Elimsport Valley. Faith and her husband, Art, were avid card players, dancers, party hosts and travelers. Faith was a great wife, an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, friend, and neighbor. She will be dearly missed by a great many people.
She is survived by two children, Charles A. “Chuck” Ranck (Deborah,) of Montoursville and Gaye Ranck Jenkins (Thomas,) of Elimsport; two sisters Martha Duncan and Kaye Newbury (Nick Borelli); four grandchildren Christine R. Lysak, of Northumberland, Jonathan A. Ranck of Montoursville, Gregory A. West, of Elimsport, and Timothy E. Jenkins, of Portland, Ore; and two great-grandchildren Tamara and Benjamin Lysak, also of Northumberland.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by five brothers, Allen Crist, Edward Newbury, Robert Newbury, Paul Newbury and David Newbury; and two sisters, Lorraine Jacobs and Priscilla “Bonnie” Newbury.
Friends and family are welcome to a celebration of Faith’s life that will take place Friday, March 28th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main Street, Watsontown, with an Eastern Star ceremony at 5:45 p.m. There will be a memorial service Saturday, March 29, at the Elimsport United Methodist Church, at 10 a.m. with a light luncheon to follow. Pastor Michael Hill will officiate.
Faith and Art’s ashes will be interned in June at Highland Cemetery, New Columbia.
