Audrey K. Gable

Audrey K. Gable, 85, formerly of Hughesville, died Monday, March 24, 2014, at Riverwoods in Lewisburg.

Born Dec. 2, 1928, in York, she was a daughter of the late Lester J. and Miriam Benedict Kauffman. She and her husband, Rev. Henry E. Gable, would have celebrated 64 years of marriage on June 24, 2014.

Audrey retired from Ashkar Elementary School, Hughesville. She enjoyed listening to music, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons, Sidney E. (Julie) Gable, of Hughesville and Lawrence D. (Linda) Gable, of Dublin, Ohio and six grandchildren, Amanda Gable, Brandon Gable, Christopher Gable, Zachery Gable, Bryan Gable and Matthew Gable.

Funeral services were held 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Pastor Jane L. O’Borski. Burial was held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at Stony Brook Mennonite Church Cemetery, York. Friends called from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
