B. Franklin Gordner Jr.
B. Franklin Gordner Jr., 87, went to be with the Lord, on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at his residence with his family around him.
He was born May 12, 1926 in Unityville, a son of the late B. Franklin and Mildred C. “Poust” Gordner Sr.
Franklin attended Hughesville Schools. He joined the United States Army on March 26, 1946 and he was stationed in Panama for two and a half years and served until March 14, 1949 when he was honorably discharged. He retired from C.C. Hock Construction in 1985. He also worked as a heavy equipment operator for Franklin Township and helped out at Camp Victory.
He enjoyed country music, welding, mowing grass; gardening, playing cards, fishing, hunting, reading and he enjoyed eating. When he lived in Maryland he enjoyed crabbing and clamming.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Betty Gordner, a daughter Audrey D. Gordner, two sisters Lucy A. Kile and Fay Letterman and a brother Dean A. Gordner.
He is survived by his wife Mildred “Millie” Whitmoyer Gordner with whom he married May 6, 1961, five sons Rodney Wayne Gordner and his wife Patricia of Millville, Gene Franklin Gordner and his wife Joey of Kalispell, Montana, Kent L. Gordner of Unityville, Nevin Kerry Gordner of Hughesville and Steven R. Gordner and his wife Debbie of Benton and three daughters Ruth Ann Gordner of Talent, Oregon, Doreen Lynette and her husband Jeff Berger of Hughesville and Donna Kay and her husband Joseph Manley of New Cumberland and twenty grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren and a sister-in-law Mary Gordner of Bloomsburg and several nieces and nephews.
Services were Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church 68 Gordner Church Rd. Unityville, Pa 17774 with Pastor Ronald Montgomery officiating and Gene Gordner and Pastor William Hine assisting. Burial was at Gordners Cemetery.
