Judith A. “Judy” Ruth

Judith A. “Judy” Ruth, 67, of Pennsdale, died Friday, April 11, 2014, at her home.

Born November 10, 1946, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Grace E. “Betty” McClain Springman.

Judy was a graduate of Muncy High School, Class of 1964 and Moravian College, Class of 1968. She was employed with the East Lycoming School District as a Kindergarten teacher for over 25 years, retiring in 2007. Judy was a member of the Muncy Women’s Club and Muncy Class of 1964 Reunion Planning Committee.

Judy was an avid reader. She enjoyed Penn State Football, Duke Basketball, going to the beach and above all, spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are a daughter, Amy E. (Jon) Ruth-Swart of Pennsdale; a son, Chester J. Ruth IV of Montoursville; a brother, Thomas M. (Connie) Springman of Muncy; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth Swart, Gage Swart and Reece Swart.

Funeral services will be held today at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water Street, Hughesville, with Rev. Arthur E. Gladfelter officiating. Burial will follow in Picture Rocks Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to the Hughesville Area Public Library, 146 S. Fifth St., Hughesville, PA 17737.
