Harvey R. Green Sr.

Harvey R. Green Sr., 79, of Hughesville, died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Unit.

Born June 13, 1934, in Hughesville, he was a son of the late Alvin C. and Jessica M. Snyder Green. He and his wife, the former Sylvia M. Secules, would have celebrated 61 years of marriage on June 30, 2014.

Harvey retired in 1990 from Sprout-Waldron’s, Muncy, after having worked there for over 24 years. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Hughesville, the Hughesville Senior Citizens, Friends of Bill W. and a past member of the Hughesville Fire Dept. Harvey enjoyed hunting with his sons and grandsons, fishing, word search puzzles and spending time with his great-grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Patricia M. Stroup, of Hughesville; two sons, Harvey R. Green Jr., of Kulpmont and Carl A. (Sharon) Green, of Hughesville; a sister, Edna Myers, of Muncy; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Thursday, April 17, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Pastor Dan Cale officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. Friends called from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
