Charles A. “Butch” Pursel Jr.
Charles A. “Butch” Pursel Jr., 66, of Waterbury, Conn., passed away unexpectedly at Saint Mary’s Hospital on Friday, May 2, 2014, with his family at his side. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Graden) Pursel.
Charlie was born Feb. 4, 1948, in Muncy, the son of the late Charles A. Pursel Sr. and Lola (Laidacker) Pursel. He grew up in Pennsylvania where he was a graduate of Warrior Run High School, Class of 1966. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for many years prior to his retirement in 2004 as a training NCO. After his distinguished career in the U.S. Armed Forces, he worked for CorTech at Kimberly-Clarke, accumulating many friends in the process.
Besides his beloved wife, Mary, of 32 years, Charlie is survived by his three daughters, Amber Pursel, of Newton, Mass., Andrea Pursel, of Moriches, Long Island, and Charlene Pursel, of Waterbury, Conn. He also leaves his brothers, Robert Pursel, of Winchester, Va., William Pursel and his wife, Kate, of New Cumberland; his sisters, Judy Frey, of Watsontown, Sharon Diehl and her husband, Dale, of Turbotville; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Pursel were held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 7 p.m. at Eastside Memorial at Southmayd Road, Waterbury, Conn. Burial was held privately in Pennsylvania at the convenience of the family.
