Woodrow W. Shaner Jr.
Woodrow W. “Woody” Shaner Jr., 70, of 1003 Spruce St., Montoursville, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014. He was born Nov. 17, 1943, a son of Woodrow W. and Marjorie Day Shaner Sr.
Woody was a graduate of Hughesville High School and the PA State Police Academy. He retired as a State Police Fire Marshal in 1995 after 25 years of service, and then served as Chief of Police in Muncy Twp. for seven years. He was a Vietnam War veteran serving in the Army, and a member of the Eugene Grafius American Legion Post 104 in Montoursville.
He was a member of the F.O.P Lodge 49, the retired State Police Association of PA, was a member, and past President of the Montoursville Little League and the Montoursville Lions Club. He was an avid golfer, loved his family, and his greatest joy in life was his son.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, the former Carol Powell; his son, Eric S. (Stacie) Shaner, of Greencastle; a sister, Evelyn (Don) Burkhart, of Hughesville; and his grandson, Mason.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Burial was held at the convenience of the family in Montoursville Cemetery.
