Christine L. “Tina” Prokop

Christine L. “Tina” Prokop, 69, a resident of Muncy, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014, in the Susquehanna Health Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Unit at Muncy Valley. Born in Muncy, Lycoming County, on Thursday, Aug. 3, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Vergena (O’Brien) Brittain.

Tina was the wife of James R. Prokop Sr., with whom she celebrated a 50th wedding anniversary on June 15, 2013.

She was employed by Buzz’s Pizza Shop at Watsontown and Muncy.

Christine was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Muncy. Tina enjoyed playing bocci ball, crossword puzzles, gardening and watching the birds from her front porch. She truly enjoyed living on the farm and being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Sue and Todd Hiller, of Allenwood; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James R. and Tracy Prokop Jr., of Muncy and Lonnie Prokop, of Hughesville; six grandchildren, Jacob and wife, Ashley Hiller, Jim Hiller, Emily Hiller, Brent Prokop, Nicole Prokop and Jonah Prokop; one great-grandson, Conner; three siblings, James and wife, Arlene Brittain, of Augusta, Ga., Shirley Sheesley,of Muncy, Thomas and wife, Susan Brittain, of Muncy; and one sister-in-law, Wilma Brittain, of Hughesville. Christine is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Bill Fritz and one brother, Richard E. Brittain.

A memorial service was conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy, at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2014, with Reverend Arlene P. Beechert, her pastor, officiating. Interment was at the convenience of the family in Muncy Cemetery. Friends called on Friday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will provide the flowers.
