Virgil Richard Fowler

Virgil Richard Fowler, 91, of 1704 Pond Road, Pennsdale, went to be with his Heavenly Father on May 22, 2014, at Valley View Nursing Home.

Born Feb. 4, 1923, Virgil was a lay speaker, preacher, Rotary member and was actively involved with Kairos Prison Ministry and Tres Dias. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church Montoursville and truly loved worshiping The Lord. Virgil was also the owner of the former Fowler Motors Inc., Williamsport.

Virgil was a devoted husband, father and grandfather whose love for The Lord was evident in his everyday life. He is predeceased by 10 siblings and his daughter, Caroline Ramey.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Barbara J. Fowler and sons, Virgil Richard Fowler II (wife, Dana) and Bruce Fowler (wife, Nancy); and two daughters, Katherine Gleason (husband Irv), and Sandy Benzel. Of his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, locally are Virgil Richard Fowler III (wife, Rachael), Matthew Fowler, Jacob Gleason (wife, Kari), Ashley Citarella, Katelyn Fowler, Joshua Gleason, Jillian Gleason, Devon Williams, and Ashlynn Fowler. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Rick, Jim, Chris, Dawn Marie, and Sandra, all of whom are located out of state.

A Celebration of Life memorial service was held 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, at Faith United Methodist Church, 700 Fairview Drive, Montoursville, with Pastor Rusty Wolfinger officiating. Burial was in Pennsdale Cemetery.
