Jonas S. Fisher

Jonas S. Fisher, 71, of Elimsport Road, Montgomery, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014, at his home.

Born Nov. 29, 1942, in Ronks, Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Samuel E. and Katie S. (Stoltzfus) Fisher. On Oct. 27, 1964, he married the former Salome B. King and they have celebrated 49 years of marriage.

Jonas is retired from farming and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Surviving besides his wife, Salome, are three sons, Steve Jay, husband of Mary E. Fisher, of Millersburg, Sam Jay, husband of Linda E. Fisher and Crist K., husband of Anna Mary King, all of Montgomery; six daughters, Katie May, wife of Sam Jay Miller, of Montgomery, Sylvia Ann, wife of Gideon L. Miller, of Mill Hall, Anna Ruth, wife of Elmer B. Stoltzfus, of Montgomery, Linda Kay, wife of Samuel S. Fisher, of Spring Mills, Ada K., wife of Melvin S. Fisher, of Montgomery and Mamie K., wife of Jonas M. Beiler Jr., of Montgomery; 62 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jacob and wife, Elizabeth (King) Fisher, of Ronks, Samuel, husband of Lydiann (Dienner) Fisher, of Parkesburg, Levi, husband of Lydia Fisher, of Loysville; and two sisters, Mary (Fisher) Ebersol, wife of Alvin Ebersol and Rachel (Fisher) King, of Oriskinny Falls, N.Y.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sylvia Ann Fisher; a brother, Elmer Fisher; and a sister, Mamie Fisher.

The funeral service was held at 9 a.m. Monday at the residence of his son, Sam Jay Fisher, 1348 Elimsport Road, Montgomery, with burial following in Elimsport Amish Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main St., Watsontown.
