Shirley M. Miller

Shirley M. Miller, 77, formerly of State Home Road, Montgomery, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at her residence. Born in Danville, Montour County, on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1936, she was the daughter of the late William and Annabelle Ashton.

Shirley was the widow of Raymond J. “Skip” Miller Jr., who preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 2009.

She had been employed by the former Montgomery Mills.

Shirley enjoyed knitting and enjoyed the companionship of her cats and dogs.

She is survived by three sons, Raymond J. Miller III, of Montgomery, Robert W. and wife, Lori Miller, of Montgomery, Steven E. Miller, of Hughesville; one daughter and son-in-law, Anitra and husband, Adam Hampe, Turbotville; one brother, William K. Ashton, of Williamsport; and one half-brother, Robert Yurn, of Pottsville. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Watkins.

Funeral services were conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy, at noon on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, with the Reverend Viking Dietrich, pastor of the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, officiating. Interment was in the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Cemetery, Clinton Township, Lycoming County. Friends called on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.
