Elsie Zoe Ryder
Elsie Zoe Ryder, 80, a resident of Montgomery, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2014, in The Gatehouse at Williamsport. Born in Muncy, Lycoming County, on Saturday, March 17, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Monroe E. and Helen (Sterner Waltman) Metzger.
She was the widow of Raymond W. Ryder who preceded her in death on June 1, 1999.
Elsie was a 1952 graduate of Montgomery-Clinton High School.Senior living residents of Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg, took part in the recent Lewisburg 4th of July parade. Enjoying their automobile parade entry were Annelis Gray, Glen Venada, and Jane Hayes.
She was a member of the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church at Montgomery. Elsie was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Watsontown Chapter No. 282 and the Montgomery Senior Citizens. She was a lifelong supporter of the Montgomery High School music program. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with her family.
Elsie is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dale A. and wife, JoAnna Ryder, of Elizabethtown, Brian E. and wife, Melanie Ryder, of Montgomery; and six grandchildren, Eric Ryder, James Ryder, Scott Ryder, Julie Ryder, Daniel Ryder and Benjamin Ryder. In additional to her husband, Elsie was preceded in death by a son, Randy R. Ryder, and a granddaughter, Cassandra Ryder.
Funeral services were conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2014, with the Rev. Viking E. Dietrich, her pastor, officiating. Interment was in the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Cemetery. Friends called on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. An Order of the Eastern Star memorial service was conducted by Watsontown Chapter No. 282 on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home. The family provided the flowers.
