Duane R. Wallis Sr.

Duane R. Wallis Sr., 68, of Williamsport, died Thursday July 10, 2014, at the Gatehouse.

He was born Oct. 2, 1945, in Muncy a son of the late Fordythe C. and Clara Eleanor (Stackhouse) Wallis.

Duane served in the U.S. Army during Viet nam, and he worked as a mechanic at Staiman Brothers Recycling for over 10 years. Earlier in life, he drove truck for Boise-Cascade, McCormick Truck Lines and Milton Transport. He loved to fish and was a member of American Legion Post No. 1, Williamsport, 40 & 8, Williamsport and VFW Post No. 844, Williamsport.

Duane is survived by two sons, Duane R. (Kay) Wallis Jr., and Doyle Wallis, of Muncy; two daughters, Terri (Randy) Kio, of New Columbia and Heather Wallis, of Hughesville; five grandchildren, Tiera Wallis, Samantha Eichenlaub, Christopher Wallis, Nicholas and Victoria Quava; two great-grandchildren, Anthony Lepley and Zachary Wallis-Steele; and two brothers, Sylvan (Nan) Harriman, of Sonestown and Guy (Nancy) Harriman, of Unityville.

Duane was preceded in death by a brother, Doyle Wallis and a sister, Mabel Swales.

Private services will be held Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Moreland Baptist Church, Muncy at the family’s request.
