Robert D. “Bobby” Shultz Sr.

Aug 8, 2014

Robert D. “Bobby” Shultz Sr., 69, of Unityville, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Select Specialty Hospital, Danville.

Born Aug. 8, 1944, in Unityville, he was a son of the late Robert R. and Edna Julia Charles Shultz. He and his wife, the former Gladys M. George, would have celebrated 52 years of marriage on Oct. 13, 2014.

Bobby retired in 2009 from the former Sprout-Waldron, Muncy, after having worked there for 37 years. Following his retirement, he obtained his CDL license and drove water trucks for various local gas companies.

He was an active member of the New Life Tabernacle Church, Bloomsburg, and a member of the quarter century club. Bobby enjoyed collecting antique cars and farm tractors. He also loved the outdoors; camping, spending time at his cabin in Canada and doing lawn work. However, one of his greatest joys was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Julia M. (Bob) Steinruck and Mickie (Denny) Ayrton, both of Unityville; a son, Robert D. (Angela) Shultz Jr., of Unityville; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Shultz Fry; a brother, Raymond Shultz; an uncle, Leland Robbins; and a cousin, Roy Carl Charles Jr.

Funeral services were held 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Larry K. Smith officiating. Burial was held at the convenience of the family. Friends called from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
