Carl L. Anderson

Carl L. Anderson, 89, formerly of Sherman St. Ext., Muncy, died Thursday, July 31, 2014, in Blue Ridge, Ga.

Born Oct. 24, 1924, in Muncy, he was a son of the late William S. and Edna C. (Goldy) Anderson. He married the former Dorothy Mae Peterman, who preceded him in death on Aug. 31, 1988.

Carl was a 1942 graduate of Muncy High School. He served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He then worked as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, Muncy, retiring in November of 1979.

He was a 69 year member of the Roland Ritter Post 268 American Legion, Muncy. Carl also volunteered at the Son Light House, Muncy.

Surviving are one son, Paul Anderson and wife, JoAnn, of Cherry Log, Ga.; two grandchildren, Beth Egan and husband, James, and Valerie Anderson; five great-grandchildren, Alyssa Powles, Michael Powles, Steven Anderson and wife Megan, Matthew Anderson and Karlei Anderson; one great-great-granddaughter, Lyric Jane Anderson; one sister-in-law, Jennie Wolfe and husband, Ernest; and one brother-in-law, Harvey Peterman and wife, Millie.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, Theodore and Kendru Anderson and three sisters, Oral Hall, Betty Bauer and Eldora George.

Friends were received from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at Grenoble Funeral Home, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.

A graveside service with full military honors followed at Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.

The family provided the flowers and suggests contributions in Carl’s name be made to the Roland Ritter Post 268 American Legion, 515 Legion Road, Muncy, PA 17756.
