Mary Jane Grove
Mary Jane Grove, 71, a resident of Williamsport, formerly of Montgomery, went to be with her Lord and Savior while surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at her residence. Born in Allenwood, Union County, on Friday, March 12, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Alem and Mary Frances (Hoff) Hill.
Mary Jane was the widow of Pastor John F. Grove Sr. who preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 2005.
She was employed as a librarian by the Montgomery Library and had also baby sit for many Montgomery area families.
Mary Jane was a member of the First Baptist Church of Williamsport where she was a former deacon and was the treasurer of the flower fund. She was an avid reader and poet, enjoyed bird watching, shopping and watching cooking shows.
She is survived by four children, Kathi Grove McCabe, of Arp, Texas, John F. and wife Shari Grove Jr., of Hughesville, Debra and husband Thomas Jackson, of Williamsport, Alice Grove and Holly Vogel, of Cogan Station; 12 grandchildren, Christopher McCabe, Erin McCabe, Kristin Walker, Jeremy Grove, Nicholas Grove, Nathan Grove, Nevin Grove, Carrie Wright, Nathan Jackson, Brian Weisel, Justin Weisel, Jessica Weisel; and two great-grandchildren, Cameron Walker and Madilyn Walker. She is also survived by two sisters, Norma Witmer, of Brockton, N.Y. and Meilssa Smith and husband, Craig, of Cordors, and her dog and loyal companion, Fritz. In addition to her husband, Mary Jane was preceded in death by her son, G. Scott Grove and three brothers, Wesley Tanner, Paul Tanner and Charles Hill.
Funeral services were conducted from the First Baptist Church of Williamsport, 420 Elmira St., Williamsport, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, with the Rev. Dr. Rob Manzinger, her pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Clinton Baptist Cemetery. Friends called on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. The family provided the flowers.
