Jean L. Heincelman

Jean L. Heincelman, 83, of Hughesville, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at The Gatehouse.

Born Aug. 6, 1931, in Lairdsville, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur C. and Edna M. Farnsworth Rogers. Her husband of 27 years, Nelson H. Heincelman, preceded her in death on March 9, 2000.

Jean was an accomplished local artist, painting under the alias of Jean Rogers H. She was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church and a master gardener. In her free time, Jean enjoyed fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters, Cindy A. (Larry) Hartman and Betsy J. Bixler, both of Hughesville; two sons, Jeff L. (Anita) Houseknecht, of Hughesville and Keith J. (Jane) Houseknecht, of Picture Rocks; two sisters, June (Larry) Sayre and Effie (Ed) Budman, both of Hughesville; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Warburton and a brother, Mike Rogers.

A graveside funeral service was held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at Muncy Cemetery, 204 East Penn St., Muncy, with Pastor Jane O’Borski officiating.

The family provided the flowers and suggest memorial contributions in memory of Jean be made to a charity of choice.
