Kenneth M. Stackhouse

Kenneth M. Stackhouse, 90, of Hughesville, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at Muncy Valley Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Unit.

Born Feb. 18, 1924, in Glen Mawr, he was a son of the late Joseph D. and Martha L. Sullivan Stackhouse. He and his wife, the former Helen M. Harriman, celebrated 70 years of marriage on Aug. 11, 2014.

Kenny served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean War.

He served as a Penn Township Supervisor for many years, and retired in 1986 from the U.S. Postal Service, after having worked there for over 20 years.

Kenny was a lifelong member of the Point Bethel United Methodist Church, a former member of the Faxon Bowling League and the former Strawbridge bowling team. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and traveling, especially to Canada on his many fishing trips.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Nancy L. (Gary) Craft, of Hughesville, Susan J. (Terry “Tom”) Sheets, of Hughesville, and Rebecca A. (Ronald) Broschart of Portland, Mich.; four sons, Kenneth M. (Janet) Stackhouse II, of Muncy, Hugh J. “Jake” (Janet) Stackhouse, Michael D. (Teresa) Stackhouse and Jeffrey M. (Amy) Stackhouse, all of Hughesville; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by a son, Richard K. Stackhouse; a grandson, Kirk A. Stackhouse; a sister, Reta Ertwine; and two brothers, Harry L. Stackhouse and Carl E. Stackhouse.

Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Point Bethel United Methodist Church, 165 Point Bethel Road, Hughesville, with the Rev. GayAnn Gearhart officiating. Burial followed in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.

Friends called from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville.
