Del R. Baysore

Del Raymond Baysore, 83, a resident of Muncy, passed away on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at his residence. Born in Muncy, Lycoming County, on Monday, July 6, 1931, he was the son of the late William L. and Mary M. (Dimm) Baysore.

Del was the husband of Doris M. (Wertz) Kahle Baysore with whom he celebrated a 45th wedding anniversary on Dec. 28, 2013.

He attended Muncy High School.

Del was retired from the U.S. Navy where he honorably served his country for 20 years having served during the Korean Conflict and traveling around the world four times. Del was also a retired steelworker at ACF Industries at Milton where he was employed for 20 years.

He was a former member of the Edward J. Smith V.F.W. Post 3428 and American Legion Post 268 at Muncy. He enjoyed vacationing at the New Jersey shore and working on automobiles.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Mary Ruth and husband Allen Duke, of Ladson, S.C., Scott and wife, Kelly Lorick, of Warrenton, Va., LuAnne and husband, Rod Magargle, of Muncy; three stepdaughters, Kathy and husband Bill Bashista, of Montgomery, Jeanne Kahle, of Unityville, Sherry and husband Clark Strayer, of Muncy; one brother, H. Gene and wife Nola Baysore, of Muncy; one granddaughter, Dori Savage, of Muncy; and two nephews and one niece, Slade and wife Ada Baysore, of Muncy, Chip and wife Marggie Baysore, of Muncy, Dara and husband Aarol Oden, of Hughesville. Del is also survived by 23 stepgrandchildren, 21 stepgreat-grandchildren, three great-nieces and one great-nephew.

Funeral services were conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, with Rev. Tony Cruz, pastor of the Freedom Life Church, officiating. Interment was in the Muncy Cemetery. Friends called on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
