Mr. Alfred L. Poff
Mr. Alfred L. Poff, 69, of Muncy, passed away on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at the Skilled Nursing Unit at the Muncy Valley Hospital.
Mr. Poff was a member of the Saint John’s United Methodist Church at Dewart.
Mr. Poff was retired as a school teacher from the Williamsport Area High School where he had taught biology and science.
He was a member of the Muncy Borough Council. He had been a health officer for 28 years for the Borough of Montgomery and had also served the Borough of Millville in the same position for the Department of Agriculture.
Alfred enjoyed music from the 1950’s and 1960’s. He was a graduate of the Lock Haven State University.
Born Nov. 13, 1944, at Altoona, Blair County, he was the son of the late Lewis Willard and Elsie Elizabeth Brion Poff.
He and his wife, the former Diane L. Rinker, were married on June 15, 1968, at the Saint Boniface Catholic Church at Williamsport.
Surviving are his wife, Diane L. Poff, at home; his son, John L. Poff, of Marlborough, Mass.; his daughter, Christina L. Poff, of Williamsport, Md.; and his sister, Mary Ann Wertman, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Brian Cieslukouski of the Saint John’s United Methodist Church at Dewart, in the Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven, Pa., on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, at 11 a.m. There will be no visitation.
A procession will form at the Charles M. Noll Funeral Home, 1 E. Central Ave., South Williamsport, prior to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4 and proceed to the cemetery in procession for the services.
