Sheldon “Sarge” A. Laylon
Sheldon “Sarge” A. Laylon, 90, of Old Road, Montgomery, passed away Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 16, 1924, in Williamsport, to the late Charles and Gertrude V. (Nosdale) Crayton Jr., and was raised by the late Sheldon Laylon Sr. On Oct. 16, 1976, he married Doris T.D. (Berkheimer) Dewire and they celebrated 37 years of marriage.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Dewire Laylon, of Montgomery; three sons and daughter-in-law, Dave and Chris Laylon, of Texas, Michael Laylon, of Bellefonte, Sheldon Laylon III, of Milton; three stepdaughters and their husbands, Connie and Glen Robbins, of Watsontown, Debra and Ray Paige, of Watsontown, Bonnie and Dennis Plymette, of Mechanicsburg; two stepsons and their wives, Dennis and Mary Dewire, of Watsontown, David and Yolanda Dewire, of Williamsport; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; 12 stepgrandchildren; 19 stepgreat-grandchildren; 2 stepgreat-great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Tom Lundy, of Orlando, Fla.; also his former wife, Virginia Laylon, of West Milton.
Burial with full military honors will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap at the convenience of the family.
