Stanley H. “Kep” Kepner

Stanley H. “Kep” Kepner, 85, of Hughesville died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at the Gate House of Divine Providence Hospital. He was born Nov. 4, 1928, in Penn Township, Lycoming County, a son of the late Harry W. and Martha Snyder Kepner. May 1, 1948, he married Mary Miller, who survives.

In 1987, Kep retired from Sylvania, where he had been a mechanic for many years. Earlier in life, he had farmed for the former Bryfogles Greenhouses. He served honorably in the U.S. Army in the Philippines following World War II. Kep enjoyed fishing, hunting, cutting wood and mowing grass and was a charter member of the Muncy Moose.

In addition to his wife of 66 years, he is survived by a brother, Irvin Kepner and a sister, Sara Jane and Jim Patterson, all of Hughesville.

Kep was preceded in death by four brothers, Doyle, Sterling, Gordon and Lee Kepner.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday in the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, by the Rev. Cinda Brucker and Pastor John Anderson. The interment was in the Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery, where graveside military honors were accorded by combined military organizations. The family received friends in the funeral home Friday from 10 a.m. till the time of service.
