Virginia M. Mahaffey
Virginia M. Mahaffey, 98, of Muncy, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at the Muncy Valley Hospital.
Born Oct. 12, 1915, in Rochester, Beaver County, she was a daughter of the late Ira and Mary A. (Dymeck) Mahaffey.
Virginia graduated from Monaca High School, Class of 1934. She worked as a secretary for the Clokey Agency, the State of Florida, and Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in Deland, Fla. Virginia was a former member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish Catholic Church. She was an avid and life-long sewer and quilter, and made 21 quilts after she turned 70.
Surviving are two daughters, Kay Adelson (Perry), of Cogan Station and Carla Mahaffey (Douglas Shuman), of Turbotville; four grandchildren, Jessica Engel, Andria Larson, Ira N. Adelson and Melissa Hoy; and four great-grandchildren, Kate, Sam, Cooper and Duncan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Mahaffey in 1960 and was the last surviving of seven children.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
