Glenda E. Burgess

Glenda E. Burgess, 43, of 751 Ruben Kehrer Road, Muncy, passed away at her home Friday, Aug. 29, 2014. She was surrounded by her family and friends.

Glenda’s faith remained strong and she continued to have an optimistic spirit and brave heart even though she could not conquer her battle with cancer.

She was survived by her devoted husband Shawn Burgess. The couple observed their 20th wedding anniversary on July 16, 2014. They were blessed with three sons, Matthew, Tanner and Nathan. Glenda is further survived by her mother, Kathryn A. Johnson and her companion, Stan Breon, of Antes Fort; a brother, Randall A. Johnson, of Williamsport; her mother and father-in-law, Linda and Charles A. Johnson, of Nisbet; and many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and her brother and sisters-in-law.

She was born Jan. 1, 1971, in Williamsport to Kathryn A. Johnson and the late John W. Johnson Jr.

Glenda was a 1988 graduate of Williamsport Area High School. Her employment included Harvest Moon Restaurant in Linden, Williamsport Country Club, BonTon and the Muncy Bank and Trust in Montoursville.

Glenda loved spending time with her family and cooking for them. She also enjoyed shopping and going to lunch with her mother. She loved her pets and cherished time spent with her friends.

Glenda was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was kind, courageous, and gracious.

Memorial contributions will be accepted by the Muncy Bank & Trust Co. in Montoursville. The family wishes to thank the countless friends and neighbors who have supported them with food, prayers, flowers, cards and kindness during this difficult time.

The funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with Pastor David C. Hart and Minister George Dincher officiating. Interment will follow in the Montoursville Cemetery. Friends were received Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
