Robert L. Bressler
Robert L. Bressler, 80, of Dushore, died Sept. 11, 2014, at his home. He was born March 22, 1934, in Middleburg, a son of the late David H. and Lula Dean Bressler. April 24, 1954, he married the late Nancy Joan Patt, who died April 29, 2004.
Bob served honorably in the US Army during the Korean conflict. He and his wife owned and operated the Sonestown Hotel. Bob was a truck driver for many years, operating Bressler Trucking and retiring from Yellow Freight. He was a member of Sonestown American Legion Post 601, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the teamsters union. He enjoyed hunting, antique cars, playing cards and was an avid storyteller. Bob loved his family and doted on his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by a son, David (Sylvia) Bressler, Hughesville; two daughters, Karen L. (Dale) Diltz, Mosheim, Tenn., and Yvonne M., Eberlin, Dushore; fourteen grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Bressler, Sager, Texas; and two sisters, Beatrice Walter, Erie, and Luella Gift, Steelton.
In addition to his wife of fifty years, Bob was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Eberlin; seven brothers, John, Harlan, Myron, David, Ralph, Walter and Marvin; five sisters, Lydia Bressler, Anna Kreider, Mary Bressler, Gertrude Bressler and Gladys Smith; and three foster children, Shirley Halligan, Ronnie Applegate and Jimmy Applegate.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. today Wednesday in the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, by Pastor Harold Heddings. The family received friends in the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Sonestown.
