Thomas E. O’Boyle
Thomas E. O’Boyle age 83, formerly of Hanover Twp. PA and East End Towers, Wilkes Barre, PA died on Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Wilkes Barre General Hospital, Wilkes Barre, PA.
He was born in Wilkes Barre on August 6, 1931, the son of the late Thomas F. and Margaret (Smith) O’Boyle. Thomas was a graduate of Coughlin High School, class of 1949. He went on to further his education and attained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in French in 1953 from Wilkes University and also received a Masters Degree in Education in 1962 from Bucknell University.
He was employed by the Muncy School District and was loved and respected by his students. He had a sincere interest in them and always provided a positive influence in their lives. Tom was proud to serve his nation and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict from 1953-55, serving with the United States Air force. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, Hanover Twp., PA. He was also a member of the Charles T. Adams Active Adult Center ,Wilkes Barre, PA. Surviving are several cousins.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday Oct. 7 at 9:00 a.m. from the George A. Strish, Inc. Funeral Home, 105 North Main St., Ashley. Mass of Christian Burial was at 9:30 from St. Robert Bellarmine/St.Aloysius Church, Hanover Twp., PA. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Friends called on Monday from 4-7 p.m. and on Tues from 8:15 a.m. until the time of service.
