Evelyn Agatha R. Taylor

Evelyn Agatha R. Taylor, 93, formerly of Montgomery, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, in the Susquehanna Health Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Unit at Muncy Valley Hospital. Born in Mawr Glen, Shrewsbury Township, Lycoming County, on Saturday, Sept. 17, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Harry L. and Ruby L. (Shoemaker) Rogers Sr.

She was the widow of Raymond Russell Taylor who preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 2009.

Agatha was a 1939 graduate of Hughesville High School. She assisted her husband in the operation of their numerous area businesses and was a former Montgomery Justice of the Peace, retiring in 1985.

She was a member of the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church at Montgomery for over 60 years and was a former Sunday School teacher. Agatha was a member of Monsey Lodge No. 481 Order of the Eastern Star, a former mother advisor of Monsey Rainbow Girls, a former Girl Scout Leader and a former member of the Business and Professional Women of Montgomery.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry Lee and husband Jerry Manuel, of Morganton, Ga., Bonnie Rae and husband Jeffrey Taylor, of Elimsport; three grandchildren, Mickey Shea Barto, of Florida; Danton Lee Barto, of Tennessee, Erin Shellee Taylor Schultz, of Williamsport; three great-grandchildren, Bryce Taylor Barto, Blaze Kristin Barto, William E.G. Barto; one brother, Harry L. Rogers Jr., of Hughesville; and one sister, Elizabeth “Sis” Rogers Knyrim and husband Emerson, of Montoursville.

A celebration of Agatha’s life was held at the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, 196 Brick Church Road, Montgomery, at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, with the Rev. Viking E. Dietrich, her pastor, officiating. Interment was in the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Cemetery. The family provided the flowers.
